To the McCloud family: I was saddened to learn of the passing of "Dr. McCloud", yes "Dr. McCloud" - for like many others that's how I knew him. As our family dentist, I can still see him leaning against the doorway as he and my dad would discuss the politics of the day while waiting for my mouth to become numb. As my Scoutmaster, I am an Eagle Scout in large part because of him. Then, a 17-year-old Life scout; with interest in Scouting waning; with only a few merit badges and the project to go, he encouraged me, "Mike, don't mess this up. You will regret it." In this season of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for God putting influential men like "Dr. McCloud" in my life.

With deepest sympathy on your loss. "Doc" was one of a kind. The good news is that he is with Mommy Doc, Claud Gallimore and Phoebe Joly. Heaven will never be the same with that group running free. Words cannot express my sadness at hearing of your father's passing. My worst and best times were with him. The grinding sound of the water drill still keeps me up at night!! David, Robert & Mark, I was very sad to learn of your Father's death. I know it goes without saying Doc was a very special man. As one of your neighbors and friends, I always enjoyed being in your home as we were growing up. There was something always going on. I can't remember a time that Doc didn't have some sort of "project" from remodeling in the house to building the two car garage. He really enjoyed working on his projects throughout the years. During the years we were growing up, your family was very special to me and will always be. God's blessings and grace be upon you. RIP Doc! Mike

David, Robert, Mark and families, we have fond memories of Kemper and Aline. We enjoyed their company when we dined out together in our homes and in trips to golf tournments,and to the Highlands Games at Grandfather Mountain. We visited with Kemper in his nursing home this past August;we felt that may be our last opportunity to visit with him. He recognized us, and we shared some fond memories. Our prayers are with you all.
