Obituary of Stellena Poe

MARION, VIRGINIA: STELLENA SLEMP POE, age 96 passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Francis Marion Manor in Marion, Virginia after a brief illness. Mrs. Poe was born November 3, 1915 in Sugar Grove, Virginia to the late Walter and Mary Slemp. In addition to her parents she preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hugh Poe; brother Walter Blaine Slemp; and sons-in-law, Lewis Dean Pickett and Carson Grey Cooper. She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia J. Pickett of Sugar Grove, Virginia and Mary Lou Cooper Edwards and husband, David Sloan Edwards of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the first floor employees of Francis Marion Manor for all their love, care and support. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Charles Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
