Obituary of Roy Snavely
MARION, VIRGINIA: Roy Earnest Snavely, age 91, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Francis Marion Manor.
He was born December 2, 1919 to the late Charles and Huddle Leonard Snavely. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his wives, Irma McFarlane Snavely who is the mother of his daughter and Nancy Cregger Snavely; one brother and five sisters.
Earnest was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed by all who loved him. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict; a lifetime member of Francis Marion VFW Post # 4667and was retired from Southwestern State Hospital after 32 years of service.
Mr. Snavely is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Arnold of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Jennifer Yarbrough and husband, Jason of Lexington, North Carolina; three great-grandsons, Alex, Ethan and Seth; numerous extended family members and a very special friend, Jim Frye who he enjoyed spending time with on the farm.
The family would like to say special thanks to the staff at Francis Marion Manor for their caring and dedication during his illness.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Harry Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites being conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post # 4667. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
