Obituary of Nora Totten
MARION, VIRGINIA: NORA VIRGINIA WYMER TOTTEN, age 85, widow of Marvin Gray Totten, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 19, 2008 from her son's home in Marion. She was a charter member of Freedom Tabernacle Baptist
Church. Mrs. Totten, affectionately called Nanny" by her loving grandchildren, held
a special gift of touching people with her giving heart. Each person who met her felt
the special love she had to give. She was an exceptional mother, grandmother and friend
to all.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Grandstaff and special friend, John of Rural Retreat, Virginia, Saundra Landes and husband, Charles of Gainesville, Virginia, Annette Adkins and husband, Roger, of Wise, Virginia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin "Pete" Totten, Jr., and wife, Shirley, of Manassas, Virginia, Rev. Mark Totten and wife, Linda, of Marion, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Lucy Chambers and husband, Gene, of Eclectic, Alabama, one brother, Charles Wymer and wife, Dee Dee, of Marion, Virginia; sixteen grandchildren, including, Missy Cross, who Nanny raised, twenty-five great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Freedom
Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev.Mike Sage and Mr.Luther Sullins officiating.
Burial will follow in Resurrection Gardens in Atkins, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
